BWY Level 4 Certificate Yoga Teacher Training September 2024 with Tiffany Thorne

Since 2013 alongside sharing embodied philosophy through Scaravelli and restorative yoga classes I’ve been empowering trainee yoga teachers with the skills and confidence to teach it themselves, as a specialist tutor on 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training courses.

Now having undergone extensive training to become a DCT for the BWY I am able to offer the BWYQ L4 Certificate in Teaching Yoga (RQF) in my own right.

It’s a qualification of value, being within the Regulated Qualifications Framework: that means this course is not only verified by the BWY but by OFQUAL (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) which regulates academic qualifications throughout the UK education system.

What is in the Certificate course?

The BWYQ Certificate is a 300Hr training covering three foundational knowledge
and skills (units A, B, & C):

  • Unit A1: Professional Responsibilities of a yoga teacher.

  • Unit A2: Basic Breathing and Relaxation.

  • Unit A3: Preparing for Āsana

  • Unit B:  Approaching Āsana, Basic Breath Control and Relaxation

  • Unit C: Effective Planning, Teaching, Assessment and Evaluation.

Of your 300 hours study, 160 hours are tutor-led with inclusion of group work (where we all learn from each other!). Practical and written assignments make up the remaining hours in guided home study to develop you as a self-guided learner.

There are formative assignments to help me move you forward as I assess your learning, while we work on the summative assignments for each learning unit you must pass to evidence that you are becoming competent for certification. You receive ongoing coaching in this from me.

As the final summative assignment, you will be teaching a 6-10 week course of your own creation. You will be evaluating and reflecting on your own teaching and learning process, supported by tutor observation, as you develop into an authentic and autonomous teacher of Yoga, ready to embark on your teaching path.

Can I develop further after qualifying with this course?

When you have been teaching a while, you might consider further study with a BWYQ 200Hr Progression course that take you to the BWYQ 500 Diploma level, deepening your knowledge of the texts, and your skills of teaching advanced breath practices and meditation.

However, with my ten years experience in making yoga philosophy accessible for trainee teachers, my certificate course aims to bring you all you need to become an authentic and inspired yoga teacher with integrity. Yoga learning continues lifelong and in the texts you will discover a lasting resource for independent lifelong learning.
